Not since the Diary of Anne Frank have I been so enthralled in the true story of hope and survival. "Hope In Present Danger" vividly transported me alongside Sperantza in her journey for religious freedom. I cried with her, feared with her, and shared her faith in an ever-present God who undoubtedly was in control of her dangerous escape. My first reaction once I completed the book was to cry, pray, and thank God for the freedom I so plainly take advantage of everyday. This book was a reminder of how God is always in control and will open a window for you whenever all doors close around you. There is always hope.

“Courageous! Compelling! Life-changing! That’s how I describe this riveting story of loyalty, commitment and incredible sacrifice...Without a doubt, "Hope in Present Danger" is a vivid and gripping non-fiction account that epitomizes the old adage that “Truth is stranger than fiction.”

"This powerful story inspires me to have the conviction to persevere under any circumstance. It is a perfect mix of danger, suspense and God. It gives us a break from the traditional stories and sends us into a different world. This will be a book I will read again and again."

“Hope in Present Danger” is the story of a young girl and her family caught in the crosshairs of a suppressive dictatorship and the compelling convictions of conscience. Each gripping chapter takes one through episode after episode of faith, hope, and determination to reach what often seemed only an illusive dream. At the conclusion of the story I was left with a renewed sense of gratitude to God for that which we so often take for granted—Freedom.

"Hope in Present Danger" is a gripping journey of danger and delight, as seen through the eyes of a young girl who would not accept anything short of success. I could not put it down. When finished, my first thought was that every young American would be well served to read it. Ours would be a more faithful and considerate society if more of our citizens would simply read your book and ponder the possibilities. Thank you for providing me with a deeper appreciation for the freedoms and comforts we enjoy here in the USA. Thank you for guiding me to a more disciplined practice of positive thinking when I encounter difficult situations. Most of all, thank you for helping me to enjoy a closer relationship with Christ our Savior and for an incredibly uplifting message of hope, faith and freedom.

“Page turner” is an understatement. I began reading this book after putting my kids to bed and couldn’t put it down. I was up until 4 AM reading and forced myself to go to sleep. I finished it the next day. I have never read a book so fast in my life. Every chapter made me want to read more. Your mother’s words of encouragement about God’s protection reminded me of how good God is.

This book is amazing! In our English class we were told not to read ahead, so that we could all be on the same page, but I read ahead every time. I couldn’t help it! This book has a great message that God will never leave you, no matter what. I would recommend it to anyone. Great job!

You did an outstanding job in making the reader feel he was right there with you all the way through your experiences. Thank you for this fascinating story that reminds us of how grateful we should be for these United States.

I think "Hope In Present Danger" was very well written. I literally could not put it down. The vivid writing style created wonderful imagery and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. What inspired me the most was that during all the hardships and trials Sperantza and her mother endured, they both stayed faithful to God and praised Him during the worst.
